  • 30-bit Color - FirePro - Linux

Is it possible to enable the FirePro 30-bit color support on Linux?

I tried setting Depth 30 in xorg.conf and got the not-unexpected error:
    Code:
(EE) fglrx(0): Given depth (30) is not supported by fglrx driver
I am using the 8.72.11 driver on Ubuntu 10.04.

And before anyone asks, I do have a 30 bit LCD.

If you have those uber expensive toys, you need Windows 7 to play with them. Linux won't get you anywhere. Even if it opens 30 bit display mode, what ''APPLICATION'' can you use to utilize that? On Windows we have the legendary Photoshop CS4, that not only utilizes 30 bit color depth, but also uses GPU to do the actual processing.

On Linux, we only have gimp, what a piece of joke.

Also, if you have a 30 inch S-IPS panel display with RGB-LED backlight, you might want 3 of them.

Eyefinity on Windows works a lot better.
