I have a RTL8187 USB wifi card plugged into the front panel of my Quad SLI Desktop gaming PC. THis card has a 2.4ghz set top antenna screwed into it. I have Open Suse 11.2 and Win Vista x64 installed on this machine. My apartment offers free wifi and under Windows, it works well, 35 -320k download speeds in most cases, under linux, it ranges from 3 - 50k in most cases, and that is when it isnt timing out (which fortunately doesn't happen too often). Its ususally just annoyingly slow. I found an article on another site that explained how to edit a driver file and change the txpower setting, but this doesn't seem to help much (maybe just a little bit). Any ideas, thanks.. I didnt find any threads in the forum that directly pertained to my issue, so I am putting this one here.. thanx for your time..
