So OpenGL is no longer referencing Mesa? What version of Cedega are you using? Spearfish has some important ATI improvements.

I am not a Transgaming buff, but if I recall correctly, in the past when using Cedega I have had the 3D acceleration test fail but the games would still run. To tell if the drivers are working properly, you may want to try installing and running a Linux-native game. If you don't have any, Enemy Territory is freely available (e.g. http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/gam...0.x86.run.html)
Yeah it is no longer using Mesa.I am using Cedega 5.2, ran to check for update just now and everything checks out. I will install Enemy Territory right now. Thanks!

How did ET perform with the drivers? Any progress with ATI + Cedega?

Those are only warnings in your log, but what is your system configuration (i.e. GPU, x86 or x86_64)?

Sorry, I really should know better - I was running for a bus!

It's an old Acer aspire (2010 I think), x86 architecture, ATI mobile 9700 graphics.

Was there anything in your X log that was an error (EE)? Or anything else relevant in your log?

OK. I tried rebooting rather than just ctrl-alt-bs, and...

grepping for EE and WW in /var/log/Xorg.log...

(WW) fglrx(0): board is an unknown third party board, chipset is supported
(WW) fglrx(0): Option "VendorName" is not used
(WW) fglrx(0): Option "ModelName" is not used
(EE) AIGLX error: dlsym for __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 failed (/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727)
(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
(WW) <default pointer>: No Device specified, looking for one...

Looks like the some of the problem's gone away. Now what's the solution for the rest

I am just trying to enable the Desktop Effects...

                I used Michaels script starting...

                # Purpose: Allow 8.29.6 drivers to run on Fedora Core 6
                # Run at your own risk
                # For full usage see: http://www.phoronix.com/redblog/inde...=blog&i=NTU1MA

To convert 8.29.6, and this is a clean install - from a fc6 dvd downloaded from torrent yesterday.

                  sholdowa,

The fglrx drivers do not currently support AIGLX due to the lack of the X tfp extension. The only work-around would be to use the open-source Radeon drivers, if you have a supported GPU (R200 / R300).

Hello, since the game ET was mentioned in this thread, I decided to ask help here. Can you have a look at the thread at http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showpos...4&postcount=12. ET stopped working for me. I tried reinstalling ET, but it made no difference. Any ideas? I'm new to this forum, so if there is a better place to ask this, please forward me.

Are any other games working or had you only tested ET?

Try reinstalling the fglrx drivers to see if it fixes your problem. What GPU are you using?
