          2. Use windows and latest cat drivers.

Wow... I really havent read this before posting the log... I guess I'm gonna have to keep using Windows, then. I was already beginning to think this could be an issue with the 4890.

          Thanks for the heads up.

          • I'm seeing the same as giulio, just replaced with a Radeon 5770.

@giulio, You might want to try catalyst 9.8 and post your results. If I remember correctly, Phoen1x got his card working that way.

            • bridgman: ATI should probably update the release notes:
Software driver support for ATI FireGLTM, Integrated,
MobilityTM and Desktop products prior to the ATI RadeonTM 9500 is
              available from www.amd.com.

Thanks I guess I am in too. Same chipset, same famous last line by xorg
Newest driver does not work too.

                • I am unable to edit my post as time limit has expired. So adding that my motherboard is M2NPV-VM by ASUS. (Stock BIOS - never found the need to upgrade it)

                  • The 10.6 driver works with xorg-server 1.8 without a version patch! The module loads successfully!

See the thread on Arch forums: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.p...778767#p778767

                    • Display glitches

Although I appreciate the speed improvements (especially resizing windows with compiz), there is at least one trade-off with Nautilus on Karmic. If I sort the detailed list and mousewheel or scroll then the list gets corrupted.

Looks like a lazy update behaviour or ignoring invalid flags. Interestingly windows is updated and corrected by pressing Alt-key. Did I miss any compiz setting?

Anyway 10.06 feels like new chips, hopefully more improvments will not get scrapped by the sales department.
