SOLVED - Compile 32 bit on slackware

I found this myself after rereading some of those way-over-the-head posts on freedesktop.org where they argued this out last month. I had /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 from slamd64-12.2 in /usr/lib, whereas my /usr/lib64 stuff was up to date. I had tried to update slamd64, but it has died as a distro (no updates in current, no 13.0, etc). A quick visit to heanet.ie (which mirrors EVERYTHING) sorted that for me. GE now behaves fine, AFAICT.

Thanks very much to the patient souls who shared their know how. I can proceed to install wine, and lift my head out of my laptop. It is going to increasingly replace my television, as the crap on Irish stations is unbelieveable.

In defence of slackware, I should add that the dvd comes 32-bit on one side, and 64-bit on the other, so those who purchase a dvd don't have these headaches on an install.
