  • Cat 10.4 Blinking before movies

    Hello everyone. Im new here.
Well, ive been watching this site for a long while
    but i registered today.

    I have a little problem.
When i try to watch movies my screen goes black for
a second before it plays the movie i have selected.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Im running Ubuntu 10.4 and im using the latest propietary fglrx
driver that is available through ubuntus repository.
    i have a Sapphire radeon 5750.
    Motherboard=MSI P35 Neo2 Fir and cpu Q6600.
    if its relevant.

    Thanks

Which player do you use? And which output method? xv, opengl, something else?

I've noticed that my screen sometimes turns black for a second when I'm switching between windowed and fullscreen, but that happens both with fglrx and nvidia. Is that what you're seeing?

      Hi.
Well, its not when im switching between windwed and fullscreen.
its when i start the player. perhaps the same behaviour.
it happens when im running xv, gl2, gl as output.
The only player that dont have this issue is the default totem player.
i prefer to use smplayer or gnome mplayer. (where it issue occurs).
i get a black screen. like when you switch resolutions.
      after that everything works normal.

this happens even when im using vlc at default settings.
