It would be interesting to see an article with an analysis of how these changes would affect those developing X, those writing applications that use X, distributors and regular users. Perhaps even an interview with Luc on each of these aspects if he is willing to do so.

I would second that. If he could do it in some hours then it shouldn't make other devs' lives much harder.
