  • Performance impact of CAS latencies

Well, I've been looking for an answer all over internet, but I can't seem to find a decent one. I know what CAS latency is, but what I'm wondering is how much would it change my daily life computer performance if I bought a DDR3-1333 RAM with 9-9-9 or 7-7-7.

All I can find is really old benchmarks and plain explanations I've already memorized. If I can, I may request a benchmark of CAS latencies. (With same frequencies, of course.)

    Thanks.

GameStar (german PC gaming magazine) did a small test in one of their recent issues. They tested just one game and found less than 0.5% gain from the faster RAM.

That will of course depend on your CPU cache. With a larger cache, RAM speeds matter less. But you know that already

A RAM modules certified for lower CAS may be able to overclock higher with a relaxed CAS.

There's no "real life" performance gain with lower RAM latencies. You will see a gain is pure memory benchmarks though.

In other words, keep your money
