  • xrandr custom resolution problem

I have a problem with setting up custom resolution. I want 1280x960 70mHz,i'm using it in winXP, but ubuntu fails to detect it automaticly. And when i try to add it manually i get an error.
My monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 755dfx, it's crt.
My video card: Radeon HD 3650 AGP.
Here what i'm trying to do:
    Code:
    xrandr --newmode "1280x960" 121,000 1280 1368 1504 1728 960 961 964 999 -hsync +vsync
Mode line was extracted from windows program PowerStrip, but i also tried lines generated by gtf and cvt. Now when i'm type 'xrandr' i get this:
    Code:
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1280

but 'xrandr --addmode CRT1 1280x960' produces an error:

Installed fresh default Ubuntu Karmic (was on CrunchBang - Ubuntu Jaunty ) and now all works.
Still dunno what was causing this.
But now i have a slowdown preformance. Jst yeasterday i was able to play 720p mkv video with out laggs and now it freezes every second.
As far as i get it the problem in the ATI driver wich is different from 9.04. If somebody could give me a hint where to look, i would realy apreciate that.
