It would be more interesting to add some solo CPU tests when benchmarking multi-core-CPUs.
It is today nearly impossible to see in benchmarks how fast is one core. The majority of cpu tasks are still single core today.
Here is an example:
Well we see how well povray renders on 8 cores. But how well it is with 1 thread, 2 threads, 12 threads (more threads than cores)? Are 8 threads ~8x faster than 1 (thus we can see the effectivity of this solution)?
Another here:
It would be very interesting to have results for 1,2,4,6,8 threads for each processor. Not necessarily in all tests, but at least some (povray, h264, bzip2). They can surely fit into 1 chart.
