    Phoronix: DeviceVM Releases SplashTop 2.0

Back in October of 2007 we were the first to tell the world about SplashTop, an instant-on Linux environment that was embedded into ASUS motherboards and since then has appeared on various other motherboards, netbooks, and notebooks. We later shared more details about SplashTop, new features, and other details...

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

    Yawn!

This splashtop nonsense ceased to be interesting the moment that it got moved from flash memory onto the hard disk by everyone who uses it. If you're going to boot off the hard disk, you might as well (better in fact) just boot a real linux distro. No need for the junk.

I'd say then then splashtop would be of more use in something like a very low cost netbook with little local storage space.
