Phoronix: NVIDIA 190.53 Pre-Release Linux Driver

For those not interested in the Nouveau driver, head on over to NVIDIA's FTP server as a new 190.xx driver is available. Late last month NVIDIA released the 195.22 beta Linux driver as the first in this new driver series, and while there are new features and advancements going on there, NVIDIA is still maintaining the current 190.xx stable driver series...

I would prefer a new 195.xx series update with some divx fixes for vdpau.

      Nvidia Driver,

For Christmas can I please have the ability to set monitor rotation in the nVidia X server settings utility? I'm really bad at editing text files.

      Thanks

          FGLRX & Dear Santa Request.....

          Dear Santa,

please strike the ATI/AMD BOD with inspiration, so they put some more resources into the FGLRX team, so they can fix all the broken stuff, as fast as nVida does....

          Respectfully yours,
          GreekGeek.

Well I got bored and sad while testing xvba and replaced the ATI 4550 by a shiny new Nvidia GT220 - vdpau is much better - divx support could be still improved however, but that's mainly a diligence work. h264,vc1 and mpeg2 works already fine.

Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is the following:

1 post by deanjo about something positive in fglrx or radeon drivers.

1 post by Quaridarium that isn't incomprehensible and written like an 8 year old who's just discovered the joys of anonymous postings on the internet.

1 article by Michael that doesn't consider Ubuntu the be-all-end-all of linux distros.

And while I'm at it, an Intel SSD drive.

              Well, 1 out of 4 ain't bad.

I'm curious, do you really use the DIVX acceleration? What's the use case, it always seemed like such a useless feature to me with the speed that even old CPUs can decode it. I guess I haven't ever tried any 1080p divx files, are there any in use out there?
