  • With karmic the indirect rendering flickering is back.

    Hello!

Since upgrading to karmic I am experiencing the flickering of opengl applications when using compiz again! On jaunty the indirect rendering was working well since some releases of fglrx, was very happy about that.
But after upgrading to karmic it is back for me. Am I the only one having this again?
I am running karmic 64bit with a HD3870 Card and the current 9.11 package. Xorg logs don't show any errors. But if I start glxgears or googleearth with compiz, it flickers. Using metacity it of course works.

Anyone an idea what went wrong?

    Regards,
    Flo

I found out that it all depends on the env var LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT. Which is set by compiz for it's childs. If I start a terminal via a keyboard shortcut LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT is set and the flickering occurs. If I unset it or start the terminal via the menu LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT is not set and everything works fine...
