Crash with Catalyst 9.9 and 9.10

I use opensuse 11.1 on a 64bit dualcore athlon 64 5200+, with an ATI 4850.
Xorg is 7.4.

Up Catalyst 9.8 everything runs fine.
With Catalyst 9.9 and 9.10 the system just crashes and i can't even debug the problem. What can i do?

Is there anything that explains why Catalyst 9.9 and 9.10 are failing?

The install process says no error. On system startup i get a blinking cursor with the rest of screen black on starting Xorg. Then the system goes to a halt and nothing can be done except pressing the reset button.
