AMD Catalyst 9.9 Released !

Yeah... I downloaded, and installed it on My Fedora 11. But guess what!
aticonfig --initial: No supported adapters detected

after that my X kept not starting...

If it helps, I have provided the Xorg log file's important peice of output:

I tried again with the rpmfusion's catalyst driver, but the result was the same, it gave me the exact error...

I think that log shows that you're using the 9.8 and not the 9.9 driver. Here's from my log:

Well, I tried both, and none resulted. When I installed the 9.9 catalyst, the message told me that errors occured, and I should look at the fglrx_install.log file.

and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.

As it said, I restarted the laptop. After booting up, the system crashed, everytime. I blacklisted the radeon and radeonhd modules and this time system came up. But I don't have any kind of acceleration.

glxinfo says:

Really, what should I do so that I can use half of my graphic cards power to complete my university project...

I think i found what was the damn reason behind this error message...
My Graphic card is X1400, which is not R600+, and ATI has dropped the support for the older cards...

I AM really sad now. Maybe around 6 or 7 months later a driver from the depths of open source community would come into my aid...

Maybe I should borrow my friends computer which has a nVidia graphic card...

HD3450 is supported (all HD cards are supported, starting from HD2000.) Something else is going on.

I'm now officially blind. Somehow I thought you have an HD3450 even though you clearly wrote "X1400".

Your clearly not blind, but your mind really need to take a snap.

For my HD3450 I have now tested fglrx 9.7 up to 9.10beta but get texture corruption with direct3d games over wine with all versions. Don't really know where the problems with the drivers end and the problems with wine start to report the correct bugs.

Tested with wine 1.1.23 up to 1.1.29. Even the versions that used to work ok together are giving me problems now. I have to completely uninstall fglrx and pull the plug from behind the pc before installing a new version of fglrx otherwise the corruption is way worst.


@Klaus: really X1400 isn't supported by fglrx anymore. Sad but true. The open-source drivers should work fine with your hardware, but GLSL is not up to par yet, opengl works fine up to v1.5 functionality I think.

Yeah right. I have the acceleration and compiz works fine. But these are not my concerns right now, I needed to use my graphic cards capabilities. I think it could be nicer if AMD would stop the support of older cards when open source drivers would come to fruition. I do not expect that they use a lot of time extending the driver for older hardwares, but simply being able to run the old driver on newer kernels and Xs would be enough for people like me.
