Phoronix: Sun To Stop Solaris Express Community Edition

Sun's Glynn Foster has announced today on the OpenSolaris Forums that they will be discontinuing the Solaris Express Community Edition (SXCE) builds. For quite some time now, Sun has been providing bi-weekly updates of the latest (Open)Solaris code in the form of an ISO for those interested in testing out the latest work on this operating system. However, beginning later this year, SXCE will stop...

Come one. We are your trusty readers. You don't need to write "Slashdot" like head lines.

Most of the time it is very interesting things you dig up. But Slashdot type head lines? That's pretty low.

The headline looks fine to me. Short and to the point, without excess information. Don't see where your problem is (and you didn't explain it either, for whatever reason.)

The head line says "Sun To Stop Solaris Express Community Edition". They don't stop, they just change how they distribute it.

Yes, they do stop it. Sun said it will stop Solaris Express Community Edition with that specific name eventually and it apparently happened. There's nothing wrong with the title. The fact that they brought something that might replace it sounds like interesting news though.
Exact quote from the forum post "Sun is announcing the intent to discontinue production of the Solaris Express Community Edition (SXCE) by the end of October time-frame. As we intend to continue on a bi-weekly build schedule, consolidations will move towards producing native Image Packaging System (IPS) packages alongside SVR4 packages and then phase out the latter completely."
Edit: Seems to me though that IPS isn't Sun's stuff but from OpenSolaris but hard to say.
