  • ASIC hang happened

    Guys,

I installed Catalist 9.6 on Ubuntu 9.04. When trying to run OpenGL apps on my ASUS P5E WS PRo with HD3650 I got an error below. My screen stopped responding. Actually I already tired a bit of my card. On Windows XP I had almost a daily SILENT restart because of "GXO failed to execute AtomBios".
Looks like this is HW problem. If so - how to claim justify this to my supplier to exchange the card?

I would make sure you've run the card on a clean system for a day or two - if the problems keep happening then just go back and explain that you're getting hangs on two different OSes (so not likely to be drivers) and confirmed it wasn't a system software issue by verifying with a clean install.

EDIT - you mentioned in your other post that this problem is "widely announced" and happens on all HDxxxx cards - I huaven't actually seen any mention other than in the course of open driver development, can you maybe point me to any other links you might have handy ?

    Thanks,
    JB

      bridgeman,

my system is quite clean. Just applied fglrx driver. BTW, on Linux issue is reproducable just previewing screesavers.
On Windows situation is not so stable for reproduction. 3DMarks passed just fine. But I have 4 dumps generated by Catalyst SmartSave under windows. Does it help?
