  • Full Benchmark Suite download

    Hello all,

I have some big Hardware for a Project, standing around at my Distributor and I want to do some little stress tests. I think the Phoronix Benchmark could do this, so I get a comparison between the Server Hardware, Managers like diagrams and stuff like this

But I have a problem, there is no Internet... Is there a "full" download for the Benchmark Suite? Including all dependencies and Testprograms? Or can I build my own "Setup" with all required Programs?

    Thanks in advance,
    Zunkel

At this time there is no easy "download one file and it's all there" package. This will be partially addressed when PTS Linux Live is introduced, but at this time there is no easy solution. However, what you can do is from a machine where you have the internet connection:

    phoronix-test-suite install all

So that all the tests will be installed on the Internet-enabled PC. Then run:

    phoronix-test-suite make-download-cache

This will copy all of the downloaded files to ~/.phoronix-test-suite/download-cache/

Then just copy that download-cache/ folder into the root directory of a flash drive, external HDD, or other device. On your machines without the Internet, then just plug-in the drive, type whatever Phoronix Test Suite command you want, and it will then automatically fetch the files off that hard drive in the download-cache/ folder instead of downloading them.

Thanks, I will try that How can I say Phoronix, that it should use the Directory on the external HDD? or search Phoronix the actual directory for updates?

The Phoronix Test Suite will automatically attempt to find directories in /media/*/download-cache/ or you can modify it to another location from ~/.phoronix-test-suite/user-config.xml.

I have some machines that I want to test and benchmark, that don't have a developer environment [i.e. no compilers or interpreters]. So, what would really be awesome, is if there was an option to build these tests into a self contained executable, so that it would run it's tests without any external dependencies. That would totally rock, but I'm not sure if it's really attainable.

Nope, that really would not work. Though you could use http://www.pts-linux-live.com/

I see. Well, I need to actually test a specific operating system, so it would be cool if I could still run the tests from a self contained usb drive, without actually booting that OS.
