    Open Graphics Project

Seriously... reading about these issues makes me wonder more and more when the Open Graphics Project will release their video card. I know their card may be lacking in features when it's released, but at least everything will be accessible by the drivers. At the very least the release of this card would most likely make Nvidia and ATI wake up to the fact that their drivers need to be open sourced (or much more functional for Linux than what they currently are).

From my own experience (under ubuntu hardy 64 bit with the ATI HD 3870 and Catalyst 8.5,8.6,8.7- as others with similar ati gfxcard models have):

      1. corrupted 3D Graphics coupled with low performance (fps)
      2. bug in the post-remove-script which makes it impossible (without changing the script yourself) to remove the xorg-fglrx-driver

This thread may be old, so what progress has been made on the driver front to date?

I can see Intel has joined the X driver game now, and how has that affected nVidia and ATI?
