      In the "Device" section (section where you have Driver "fglrx") of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, add this:

      Option "AccelMethod" "xaa"

      and restart X or reboot.

        Fglrx can only use XAA. That option only works for the open source drivers. By the way, no artifacts for me on Jaunty 64bit (GNOME), HD4850 w/ 9.4/9.5.

          Great. Barking up the wrong tree then.

          I have HD3200 (Gigabyte 780g motherboard).

          Everything seems to work fine other than these random horizontal lines.
