  • [Compiz+Hd3470+catalyst 9.2] Why resizing windows is very slow!

    Hi,
i have the new catalyst 9.2 version, a card HD3470 and a linux system at 64bit. I would know why resizing a window is very slow? and why is too too slow resume a windows reduced at icon ?

    It's a driver problem ? Have i to add any option in xorg.conf ?
Can you suggest me what have i to do ?

    This is my xorg.conf:
    Code:
    Section "ServerLayout"
    	Identifier "Layout0"
    	Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
    	Option "AIGLX" "true"
    EndSection

    Section "Files"
    	ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules"
    	FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc"
    	FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
    	FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
    	FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/TTF"
    	FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1"
    EndSection

    Section "Module"
    	Load "dbe"
    	Load "extmod"
    	Load "xtrap"
    	Load "record"
    	Load "dri"
    	Load "glx"
    	Load "GLcore"
    	Load "freetype"
    	Load "synaptics"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier "Monitor0"
    	VendorName "Unknown"
    	ModelName "Unknown"
    EndSection

    Section "Device"
    	Identifier "Device0"
    	Driver "fglrx"
    	VendorName "ATI"
    	BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    	Identifier "Screen0"
    	Device "Device0"
    	Monitor "Monitor0"
    	DefaultDepth 24
    	SubSection "Display"
    		Depth 24
    	EndSubSection
    EndSection

    Section "DRI"
    	Mode 0666
    EndSection

    Section "Extensions"
    	Option "Composite" "Enable"
    EndSection
    Thanks a lot!

same shit here with a x1600,
from catalyst 8.10 if I remember correctly. I have also a similar problem with ubuntu jaunty 9.04 and radeon driver, but it can be another story....

It's the acceleration type fglrx uses, along with Compiz just being in general a POS. With those two things going on you really can't win. For the resizing at least, try using the "stretch" effect instead.
