  • Reliable compression enabled FS

Hi guys, I wanted to enable FS compression on one of my servers and see how it goes in terms of speed and disk space saved. To my surprise there are not many filesystems (that i know of) that let you enable transparent compression.

I've tested ZFS (on FUSE) and Reiser4. Compression seemed to work decently on both and Reiser4 performance was pretty good, but none of them seem 100% reliable (especially ZFS implementation).

My question is: Do you know of any compression enabled Linux FS ready for prime time?

    Thanx!

Just thought i'd let you know i've downloaded 2.6.29RC5 and given BTRFS a try. Performance wise is slower than Reiser4 but seems quite more polished than I expected (at least for v0.18). In my opinion it's still months away to even be considered as a real alternative but i'll definitely keep an eye on it.
