Phoronix: NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler

NZXT is a company that started out by producing unique computer cases designed for computer enthusiasts and gamers that were built well, were not based off designs from other manufacturers, and carried a distinct set of features. We have reviewed several NZXT cases at Phoronix, but with time they have expanded to produce other products. One of their first non-enclosure products was a NZXT power supply, which has now led to a complete series of NZXT power supplies, and a thermal controller that can be installed into a 5.25-inch drive bay. Their latest venture, however, has led them to producing a notebook cooler. The NZXT Cryo LX is a large notebook cooler made of aluminum, has an integrated four port USB 2.0 hub, and uses three 120mm fans for active cooling.

Noise level is good on the low setting and performance is good on the high setting, so it's all good?

This isn't a mobile solution, so if you're using a laptop on your desk top, do yourself a favor and use a desktop keyboard, mouse and video display, use a KVM if you already have a desktop assembled. Then you can t-pee your notebook or stand it up in a position so everything is getting plenty of air, and if you already bought one of these monster coolers, maybe if you get warm you could sit on it. Just kidding. But using desktop peripherals, which is mostly plug and play, easy setup, you could position the laptop and this cooler further away, remotely, and that would help reduce the noise at your ear and your laptop would be really happy too. Or they could ship a pair of ear plugs with this......
