Phoronix: Linux 2.6.28 Kernel Coming For Christmas

Last week Linus Torvalds was deciding what to do with the Linux 2.6.28 kernel as to release it before the holidays and open the merge window early for the Linux 2.6.29 kernel or continue on with more release candidates until next year. Linus has now decided that the Linux 2.6.28 kernel will be released for Christmas. The Linux 2.6.28 kernel will be a Christmas release but the 2.6.29 merge window will be opened longer than usual to accommodate any kernel developers being away from their computers over the holiday...

Kernel changelogs get more unspectacular with each release...
Guess Linus will be happy about the outstanding graphics stack patches this time xD

Linus has never responded well to major changes that happen in one fell swoop. They make him crankier than usual, and with good reason.

Expect him to take a very skeptical view of all this, unless someone(s) is/are doing a lot of stroking behind the scenes.
