Normally anything that provides a service by allowing others to connect to it is called a "server" and the ones doing the connecting are called "clients".
You may associate a "server" as something remote and far away and a "client" as something that runs on your local system but in many cases that is just wrong.
Just see your screen as the "server" and the applications you start as the "clients" "asking the server" to paint their windows.
