I wonder if there's any easy way to recognize the native resolution of various laptops, with various graphic cards. They usually give out no edid, dmidecode does not have that info..
Xresprobe of Debian does this by running full X stack for some seconds and then grepping the log for it, with various different ways to type it for the many drivers. But this is a little too heavy.
Does anyone have an idea how to check this, lightly?
Usually with a problem like this there's a dead obvious solution, I just can't see it now
Thanks beforehands
