      Wooooooow......

I'm overwhelmed by the response so far.

So, why do you think people are not helping out?

This whole project is contradictory. You tell people to get the modelines "direct from your TV/monitor", yet propose dumping the info into a web forum. What use is looking it up on the forum when someone needing the info can get it "direct" by the very same method that would be used to post it?

So, why do you think people are not helping out then?

You really do have to wonder why no one has added a single modeline.

This would mainly be useful for monitors that are old and/or esoteric and that don't produce reliable EDID's to determine proper modelines for them

It would be useful for all folk who aren't linux literate.

These are the people who need help,... if help is what you want to give,... and this is not at all clear.

Jade, please stop spamming the boards with one-sentence remarks... You've already been warned countless times.

Why don't you let the market decide what is spam and what is not.

Readers will not bother with what they consider to be worthless.

By the way, you do not seem to be so impartial in your judgement of "spam".

Anyway,... now that you have noticed this thread, I am sure that you will donate a few sets of modelines from the many monitors you have at your disposal.

Or is there some peculiar reason why you wouldn't contribute to the greater good?

Usually your effort is useless. Because most monitors have got correct EDID and for the others there are 2 apps there which can calc em. The older one for CRT and res below 1920x1200 is:

It uses basically the same timings as Nvidia within Win with custom refreshrates like 100 Hz for 1152x864 - can be easyly verified with an analog VGA monitor - also the tool was written by someone from Nvidia. Especially for 1920x1200 you need a modeline with reduced blanking (to use it with a standard DVI connection, TFT only), that can be calculated using

Which is a mod of the first one. So you can create all on purpose with those.
