  • sourceforge.net sued by the French version of the RIAA :(

This is not cool. Apparently the french counterpart of the RIAA (they are not directly related by the way) is sueing sourceforge.net for hosting a p2p program which in turn they are sueing because it can be used for piracy. I personally give them a 0.1 % chance against sourceforge in this case, but it?s still outrageous

French record labels have received the green light to sue four US-based companies that develop P2P applications, including the BitTorrent client Vuze, Limewire and Morpheus. Shareaza is the fourth application, for which the labels are going after the open source development platform SourceForge.

Alto it is nice to see the defamation lawsuit by vuze against the SPPF ia also allowed to continue, so hopefully, the only one paying for this will be the industry itself.
