Hi phoronices,
I run a dual head setup for months now (one 30" HP and a 24" Dell connected to a HD4850). amdcccle gave me a Big Desktop of
4480x1600 and everything (well.. almost. Some tearing and mythTV issues belong to another story) was fine. Recently I got Catalyst 8.8 in a routine Arch Linux upgrade. For some days I haven't had any problems. When I rebooted my computer yesterday, all I got was a resolution of 3840x1200. I didn't change anything in my xorg.conf, nor did I even touch amdcccle.
I tried a few things...
aticonfig --list-pairmode
Get pair modes : 1
0 1920x1200 + 1920x1200 --> 3840x1200
aticonfig --add-pairmode=2560x1600+1920x1200
FGLRX_AddPairMode failed when try to add mode : 2560x1600+1920x1200
aticonfig --add-pairmode=1920x1200+2560x1600
FGLRX_AddPairMode failed when try to add mode : 1920x1200+2560x1600
I can trick amdcccle to use this mode though: when I disable the 24" and restart X, X will come up in 2560x1600. Now I can set the 2nd screen to BigDesktop and I get what I have been used to once. Sadly, after rebooting the problems will be there again.
Can anyone of you help me with this mess?
