Clicking noise when starting computer

I am having problems with my computer. I am getting weird clicking noises when I start up the computer. After this I immediately turn off my computer and wait a while and turn it back on. Then there are no more noises. Please explain me why is this happening?

Well maybe one of the coolers or your hd (most likely). Some hds have those noises by default, when it was not there first and it is the hd, then it is most likely that it fails sooner or later.

I would turn it on while watching and listening with the case open.

It's safe to stop a fan by touching it (gently at the center) as long as it's only for the half second it would take to listen for a difference. I do it all the time.
