  • ATI RS482 [Xpress 200] - FGLRX Compatibility

    So, I am for the most part, trying to get compiz-fusion running. I have been in and out trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with compiz/drivers/configurations/etc... Basically, what seems to happen is, when I start compiz:
    Code:
    me@shell ~$ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true compiz --replace --indirect-rendering
    my entire screen would go black, I would be able to move my cursor over the terminal I entered the command into and the cursor would change to that of a text like cursor, but, that would be all. I cannot kill the process with a simple ctrl+C or anything, just an alt+ctrl+backspace...
    So, it would seem that based on what has been going on, textures are being sent to the wrong places, maybe, maybe not. Some say that I may have the driver installed incorrectly, somehow, but, that doesnt seem so, based on these here logs...
    Code:
    GLXINFO :: [url="http://pastebin.com/mebdbd5e"]http://pastebin.com/mebdbd5e[/url]
    Xorg.0.log :: [URL="http://pastebin.com/m77b66801"]http://pastebin.com/m77b66801[/URL]
    I'm using an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 with the fglrx drivers on a Dell vostro 1000 with 2GB RAM, AMD Athlon64 1.9GHz Processes running Slackware 12.1, kernel 2.6.24.5 and well, using ANY other driver seems to result in my screen completely freaking out (cool interchanging horizontal lines all over the screen)... That's about it.. Any help is very well appreciated.

    Hi,
    I have the same hardware running other distribuition, ubuntu 8.10. (and my english is awful, sorry)
    I'm very happy in find other user of the same hardware what I'm using.
    I have a lot of problems with video (freeze, black screen, burning screen (no more), ...) and, like you, I have a black screen when loading compiz, but I use fusion-icon to do it.
    Another problem related with compiz and fglrx driver occours when move a window from a desktop to another one by the mouse. When I do it those two desktop seems broken like into a X letter. Do you have the same problem?
    Another one: I downloaded the newest installer from ATI page, but it install the fglrx driver version 8.582. Do you have the same problem?
    Thanks (and sorry again)
    Reynaldo
