I am thinking about upgrading my motherboard and switching my hard disk storage to Linux RAID. I was wondering which current southbridge chipsets have exceptional overall Linux performance. I mainly care about the SATA performance if I upgrade b/c I want use Linux RAID but also want to have a somewhat future proof motherboard.
My current system is a an AMD AM2 nvidia MCP51 (nforce4) and the performance is moderate.
