Loading the XVideo Extension on 64-bit Xorg 6.9+ systems no longer results in the X Server segfaulting when launching. This issue was known to occur with Radeon X1K products. Further details and the workaround can be found in topic number 737-22837

I'm not denying you, but where are you getting that information from?

        Just leaked: http://screenshots.winfuture.de/1172043314.jpg

As you see, R600 driver will be released on the 14th of march, it's the Catalyst 7.3, and all AMD drivers are released at the same time as you know. Kernel 2.6.20 support is something that is just a logic step.

Actually the R600 launch has been delayed (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37768). You are correct though in your Kernel 2.6.20 support, as I believe was mentioned in a previous Phoronix article.

so does the linux team have some deadlines for their drivers? i mean deadlines like e.g. 10th of may, instead of 1 release/month :]

hmm this release is a bit dissapointing. i suppose they're focusing on R600 support more than anything else now. if the documents shown are true, that is.

Interesting question... Well, if the higher-ups at AMD grant Phoronix permission, we will be telling the truth to their monthly driver development cycle.

Still present the tv-out bug that makes watching movies on tv impossible
http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=309 Please Michael If you have any communication with the AMD developers let them aware of this so they can fix it. We already posted bug reports on the official and the unofficial bugzilla with no effect.

What truth? The driver is always older like the Windows' one is from the 2nd of february.

I'm wondering what the 1200 lines of code do...

You'll need to read the article (if permission is granted) to find out!
