  • Linux Game Publishing domain sites "down" because of ISP woes...

It appears that the previous ISP raised the rates on the service and LGP decided to change providers from them to BT, based on relatively (Compared to the rate hike the other ISP was charging...) cheaper rates and the promise of 24-hour or less activation time having been given to them at the main location. Unfortunately, it seems BT, over promised and severely under delivered on it and they're stuck, ISP-less right at the moment as BT flails about trying to get it's act together on the matter.

It's my understanding that everyone in the UK offices are trying to get a backup plan up and going, but it's taking considerably longer than planned to get it all lit.

Will a hosting provider work in the meantime? and/or putting the domain on a forwarding link?

Thanks for the update Svartalf, I know I was starting to get concerned.

They could try to put something on freehostia. hehe...

But to be serious for a moment, thanks for the info and hopefully LGP fixes it up.

Sadly enough, the latest X3 beta time-bombs today.
No LGP sites and mailing lists, no X3 update.
        ... and no X3 for me *

        * My wife wants to thank the powers to be for downing the X3 beta

Good thing LGP's online content protection scheme isn't live yet...

Heh... Indeed. Unfortunately, I don't know if you can get all the AAA players to sign off on porting deals without something like this in place.

In some other thread, a guy who said he was a beta tester for Sacred Gold said the game worked while LGP was down, so maybe it's not THAT bad.
But seriously, I thought that such a mess is only possible in my country with our Telco monopoly

                Yeah.

X3 beta still works for me, even though I've passed the beta time-bomb limit. I wonder if LGP implemented a time-bomb kill switch.

                  Spoke too soon; Beta expired
Beyond that, I cannot even access LGP's temporary front page ("we are not dead; we are just pining for fjords...")
I assume that Tuxgames/LGP have being moved to the new ISP?

Yeah... I think I read somewhere that it sort of "cached" your time offline but eventually you have to go online.
