AMD's New "AMDGPU" Kernel DRM Driver Might Finally Be Close

Is this still the correct picture of the upcoming AMDGPU stack ?

The all open part is why I'm planning to buy an AMD card.

Also, if all rumours about rebranding are true, isn't it so that a lot of older cards are going to be supported ?

That's strange, as the all open part already exists today (with the radeon kernel driver), the news from that picture was the hybrid driver. So if you don't care about using the proprietary components you could as well grab any existing card.

Not saying that the new architecture isn't worth the wait, just not for the new driver.
