Pop-up ad requires JS to close

I got a pop-up ad for the first time in years (whee someone targets outside USA). The kicker is that I couldn't close it, since I have JS disabled for Phoronix (the forum is so much faster that way).

A page reload got rid of it, but it's a tad illogical the ad shows without JS, but cannot be closed.

I think it can be done in pure CSS, but obviously not a high priority.

What was the ad? The URL? Hard to know what's going on without knowing what was the ad / network responsible.

I'll take a screenshot if/when it appears tomorrow. Today's already happened, and I can't get it to re-show even with cleared cookies.

Got it again. The blame is not on the ad networks' side, seems to me the close link is Phoronix code.

I have gotten this ad four times today. In the same browsing session, no cookies cleared, no cache cleared. Something is broken if it's supposed to show once a day. My IP has not changed.
