  • F-Secure sells out "secure" cloud to a company with strong NSA ties

First they advertise their cloud as secure, "your data will never leave Finland", then turn their coat. Way to go. Hypp?nen, fuck you.

Hypp?nen is not the CEO at any rate

He is the face of the company, even if his title is just "Chief Research Officer".

Face of the company does not imply he makes the decisions

          1) They are corporate entity, thus they must comply to local goverment.
          2) Their officies are located in a country, which goverment is a slave to USA, thus must comply to it.
          Logic.

Last time I checked, our government was made by jabbering idiots, but that does not mean they are slaves to USA. Much more that, towards EU. At least so called "good pupil" aproach. There is no too idiotic directive for our government to implement and enforce all directive needs to be enforced is to make life pretty much difficult for normal human beings, if some EU rule on other hand mkaes things easier or cheaper for people then it is just ignored...

By the way even if somebody used that service and data really WAS in Finland, that would not mean it was exactly safe. Law gives to law enforcement quite wide range of rights. Yes they would need warrant, but here courts just routinely rubber stamp police warrant requests without any real checking. And illegally gotten evidence is admissable in court, if police somehow "forgets"getting warrant.

Well, honestly talk was about NSA and most probably expect that when NSA investigates something, people don't end up in court but just disappear so it doesn't matter that much if the evidence is admissible in court. I can't easily imagine anyone keeping anything in Younited that NSA would be remotely interested in though

Remember, the NSA also does industrial espionage, passing that info to US companies.

I can totally see how someone would argue industrial espionage is a matter of national security. Then again, this was a personal cloud. It wasn't meant for industrial data
