    Phoronix: Steam Linux Usage Dropped Slightly In January

    While Steam had some great game deals over the holidays and titles like the Metro Redux games are fresh to Linux, these events didn't do anything to boost the Steam Linux market-share with the reported percentage of Linux gamers contracting slightly during January...

      Where ever they have these numbers from.
      Statistics are only trustworthy if you made them (up) for yourself.
      Stop TCPA, stupid software patents and corrupt politicians!

        1% of 65 million "active" (according to Valve) users isn't exactly a bad number.

        @Adarion
        They collect the data from the users completely at random. I've been surveyed maybe 5 times. Steam asks you if you're willing to participate. It might ask you a question here or there if it can't probe all the information from your system automatically but otherwise it doesn't ask you anything but your permission.

            Missing genre

            Steam has zero (true) 2D fighting game for Linux, what makes it 100% unappealing to use under Linux platform for some people.

              100 000 000 active users now, actually. Means there are approximately 1 090 000 Linux users on Steam.

                Well same drop for OSX, while Windows took those together + counting 0.01%

                From begining of year there are 9 "new" games for Linux which are not available for OSX

                Once we beat OSX on Steam, we can consider beating Windows

                  Windows is a much better gaming platform than Linux.

                  Drivers are overall faster and more feature complete.
                  There is a larger ecosystem of gaming-related software such as Skype, TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, Xfire, and software for macro, keybinding, screen capture, screen recording and streaming.

                  Also gaming peripherals such as keyboards and mouse often come with software to utilize macro keys and these software are seldom available for Linux.

                    No need to think about Windows right now, we need to beat OSX first
