dead island controller

I got Dead Island on sale. Plugged in the ps3 controller and the controls are messed up.

Moving the right stick up or down causes the player to look left or right; I could not get the player to look up or down.

The triggers are backward. I attempted to fix this but could not find any options for that. I have fixed this for other games in the steam controller mapping, but that causes other problems and takes awhile.

Does any one know how to fix this ?

I too have dead island and face the same problem with my controller dude
