Phoronix: Operating System U Fails To Live Up To Its Goals

Back in July we wrote about the Linux distribution based on Arch and powered by Wayland aiming for commercial success to compete with the likes of Ubuntu. Well, that distribution has now thrown in the towel...

Yeah I was too and was feeling like my crowd funding didn't do very well in comparison.

Then I took a look and saw they got most of if offering discount laptops, not sure how they were meant to make money from that.

His father can cough up 2000 dollar for his project.

How long did this kid think about this? Did his family and friends want to teach him a lesson? Is he an arrogant asshole? This is just very sad.

Buncha dicks around here, and in the Linux community in general.

This kid had big ambitions, no problems, but obviously was going to fail due to the lack of understanding as to how the mainstream audience works. People hate change, but only because of familiarity with a brand or term such as "Microsoft" or "Windows". OS U did almost everything wrong like Linux Mint currently does with its catering to enthusiasts, while looking like it's a "beginner-friendly" GNU/Linux distro, which it isn't.

When was the last time you saw Linux Mint's team begging for donations on kickstarter?

At least it didn't become infamous like BolgenOS.
