      Afaik software patents are mostly pushed by the US all over the world, it's just that it couldn't get the EU (and Russia and other countries) to fully adopt the pro-patent laws that the USA wants, but it's a matter of time until these countries comply with the USA behind the curtain demands.

        If you call patents a ?protection?, you won't go that far.

        I too would really like to see more native-looking Java applications (using OpenJDK). On Windows and even OS X, they look much more native. Why has there been no effort on this over the last 5 years or so? Why is GTKLookAndFeel not default?
