    i seen people use multiple input devices on them Xbox game pads etc and multiple displays on smartphone/tablets

      Sure, maybe there is some phones that actually support that, but most won't even work as USB host.
      Samsung&co can just declare it unsupported for now, since not many people would use it at all. They are selling phones and tablets, not portable consoles.

        All Android phones support it (at least above 4.0).

        But even on Android 1.6 I gamed Mario Bros on a NES emulator with a Wii Mote synced over bluetooth.

            For example Nexus 4 doesn't support USB OTG, Nexus 5 does. You can install custom kernel, but still need power source for it.


            Either way the point is that some features that are essential for full desktop, are not important for a phone/watch/tablet. It was just an example, probably not the best one.
