  • Sound Card Recomendation

I purchased a motherboard that has a creative solution on it hoping it would work with Linux. Well... It was the wrong choice obviously.

I love the board and it's layout so I am going to keep it but I am looking to purchase a sound card for it now.

    To my knowledge

    ASUS Xonar Essence STX
Buy ASUS Xonar Essence STX Virtual 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface 124 dB SNR / Headphone AMP Card with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

    and

    HT | OMEGA eClaro
Buy HT OMEGA eClaro 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

both use the same sound chip and both are compatible with Linux in general. At $150 the eClaro is obviously the better buy from my point of view. Is there any reason to get the Asus STX instead? Is it worth the extra $30 for that card or would I just be paying for the Asus name?

Any info and responses are appreciated.
Working...
