  • Radeon HD5670 and Ubuntu 14.04

    Hello,

i trying to get my Radeon HD5670 to run under Ubuntu 14.04.

    Here are my System Specs:
    Code:
    AMD64 X2 Dual Core 6400+
    Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition
    6 GIG Ram DDR2
    ATI Radeon HD 5670
The opensource driver works, and i can even play games with it, but it feels kind of laggy. Im sure there is much more potential in this card. I heard that you should use the offical ATI drivers when you want to play games on your Linux machine. So i did and got terrible performance.

First i thought i installed something wrong, but after a full week of reinstalls and using other tutorials im sure i didnt do anything wrong.

    When i type
    Code:
    lsmod | grep fglrx
in a terminal, i get this output
    Code:
    display: :0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 5670
OpenGL version string: 4.3.12798 Compatibility Profile Context 13.35.1005
So the Driver is definitely installed and acitvated, but even the Desktop is very slow compared to the openSource Driver.
When playing Left 4 Dead 2, even on low settings it stutters and lags.

Hope you guys can help me out here
