Enlightenment is flying high these days with the great contributions being done by Samsung's investment into the project...

    Hi Michael,

Could you please disable those annoying ads that constantly foward my browser from Phoronix.com to some scam site? If not I will need to activate my ad-blocker again becasue this has become an abomination...
Also animated ads actually are not suited for a website requiring to concentrate on text and reading.

Do you have a URL for the ad? Without knowing specifically about what ads people talk about, I can't block them, as there's thousands of different ad campaigns any given day on Phoronix and I only ever personally see a fraction of them....

    Default ASTC

Sure its great that they now support S3TC, but lets hope that they make sure that ASTC ends up (or remains) the preferred/primary form of texture compression that gets used.

ETC2 is the lossy texture compression technique developed by Ericsson that is royalty-free and part of OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenGL 4.3. ETC2 is the way forward but not many GPUs natively support ETC2
ASTC/ETC2 isn't natively supported by many GPUs YET!

Application developers who write modern applications should at least allow use of ASTC/ETC2 instead of the patented older S3TC texture format.
