  • New profile: Monkey's Audio encoding

There's a problem with the PTS WAV file: the encoder segfaults because of its RIFF chunk (WAV metadata). FLAC and oggenc also report a warning about it, but are able to ignore it.

I'd really like a Monkey's Audio profile because it's a very good lossless codec and features excellent 64-bit MMX ASM routines. Michael, I know you're going to scream at me (or maybe just in your head), but would it be possible for the final WAV file to be a vanilla WAV file, with no metadata or any other additions/transformations?
Edit: a simple way of doing that, is to encode the WAV file to FLAC, and decode that FLAC file back to WAV.

In the mean time, I guess I'll make a WavPack profile.

In git, thanks. The WAV file is now also corrected.

apaige: Is there a new version of Monkey audio for Linux anywhere? I see there's a new version and a Windows binary, but I can't find an updated source package.

It's good to have options to choose, but MAC isn't free/open software, and having alternatives like FLAC or WavPack...

FLAC has lots of advantages, it's open source, encoding/decoding is vary fast, it's multiplataform, the CPU usage is not big when playing files, etc. The only advantage that MAC has is that the size of the files is ~5% smaller.

Not many programs support MAC, and much less hardware, Also the MAC license is a bit wierd http://www.monkeysaudio.com/license.html

I only use MAC to transform the files to FLAC The latest version ported to GNU/Linux that I know is the same, 3.99-u4-b5
