Phoronix: TrueCrypt.ch: New Project, Hosted In Switzerland

It still is not really clear what happened to TrueCrypt with the official web-site still warning users against using the software; there's been no further confirmation whether it was a web-site hack, a back-door found in the software, government intervention, or other reason for shutting down the open-source project...

Until a full audit is done we won't know what is lurking in there. Even then they could miss things.

Truecrypt was a US government funded project along with tor until the devs disagreed with the administration at that time.

If the site was hacked would they not control the email from that domain and be able to send messages in the devs name.

AFAIK Tor is still founded by them.

            Successors of Truecrypt

There is currently quite some activity on the TCnext website. Two candidates are discussed: VeraCrypt and CipherShed. VeraCrypt raises questions because it is hosted on CodePlex (Microsoft owned site) and its license. There are also other interesting discussions.
