For those that haven't already moved over to the recently released GCC 4.9, the third point release to the GNU Compiler Collection 4.8 series has finally surfaced...

I don't understand their status report vs bugfix list tally...

If you click on the bugfix list, you'l get a shitload of fixed bugs:

But if you go on their status report page, it shows change of only 7 bugs wrt to 4.8.2:

According to this, only 8 P2 bugse were killed and one new P3 bug was uncovered.

So which is it- is 4.8.3 only 7 bugs away from 4.8.2 or is it whole list and why such discrepancy ?

That status email says "compared to previous status email", which was a week earlier.

OK, but even that doesn change much.

here is first 4.8.3 status report, when 4.8.2 came out and 4.8.3 was branched for development.
The date is 16 Oct 2013:

Then we have report from 5. May 2014

142 bugs, 1 less than before

And here is teh latest, from 22. May 2014:

135 bugs, 7 less than before.

So, if you tek interval from 16 Oct 2013 to latest one at 22 May 2014, you get from 142 to 135 bugs ( 7 less than before)

7 bugs of the diffrenc eaccording to reports, but shitload bugs on the list of bugs, fixed in 4.8.3

Bugs are fixed and found continuously, you can not just pick two random reports and calculate the difference.

Between 16 Oct 2013 and 22 May 2014, they might have fixed 100 bugs and found 93 new bugs.
