Fun with Nvidia Quadro FX 3700 and others

I'm playing with few old and cheap graphics cards via PCIe x1 with the Celeron J1900 board. I got Quadro FX 3700 for ~$35 (which when released was priced at around $1600 in ~2008 ) and few others. The benchmarks are still in progress but games are mostly done: http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1...SO-1405111SO71 (todo is to test FX 3700 on x16 on the Pentium G mobo).

There are some interesting results:
- x1 is bit slower than x16 except UrbanTerror which drops from 118 FPS to 32 FPS
- I wonder why Xonotic drastically drops with FPS with increasing quality? One thing could be only 512 MB or RAM on most of the GPU aside the AMD which had 1GB and GT740M in laptop with 2GB.

- here it's clearly visible how some benchmarks get dramatically worse results on x1 vs x16
- old and "slow" FX 580 wins SpecViewPerf - the CAD/3D application - even with much stronger i7 laptop. Odd it got much lower score with J1900 than with G840.


As some GPU and Intel integrated GPU have limited shared RAM I wonder if it will be a good thing to optimize some apps/games to have optimal settings for like 512 MB RAM. Second thing is PCIe 2.0 x1 getting popular alongside some low power CPU. I don't know if it's doable but for example UrbanTerror could use some optimization of GPU traffic. I also wonder what's the throughput of integrated graphics.
