    Tyan Tempest i5000XL S2692

With Computex Taipei 2006 wrapping up today, Tyan Computer Corporation was again a heavy-hitter at this year's expo. If you will recall from our coverage last year, Tyan was first to launch an 8-way server solution that was capable of handling up to eight AMD Opteron's in a 4+4 board configuration. This June, Tyan once again has a slew of new products reaching the market. In fact, Tyan has seven new Xeon motherboards based upon the LGA-771 socket that are compatible with Intel Dempsey and Woodcrest processors. Today we have a preview of the Tempest i5000XL.

    Tyan Tiger i7520SD S5365

After looking at the Tyan Tempest i5000XL yesterday, today we are featuring a small preview of the Tiger i7520SD S5365. Rather than taking the Woodcrest LGA-771 route, the Tiger i7520SD features the Lindenhurst Chipset and wields dual mPGA479 sockets for use with Intel's Xeon LV Sossaman processors.

    Hi,

Nice preview of the Tyan Tempest i5000XL, but you forgot the most important thing: when can we buy one!?!

None of the retailers I've contacted have a clue when Tyan expects to have this board in the channel.

I suspect I'm not alone in wanting one of these boards, so if you could get that info out of your contact at Tyan then you'd have a great second scoop.

The motherboards should be available in a few weeks. It was sent to the distributor more than a week ago, so it should only be a matter of time until the resellers and retailers get them.

That's awesome news. Thanks very much for looking into it. Word on Xeon 5160s is early July at dealers.

Let's hope it all works out!
